A couple of rain events over the last few days have the river steadily rising into the 7ft range by mid-week. The shad and striped bass fishing will be put on hold until Sunday at the earliest. High, muddy water always seems to bring the snakeheads upriver, this rise is no exception. The first snakeheads were spotted at Chain Bridge over the weekend. There will be plenty of fish still around at the other side of this high water, however, the average size of stripers will likely decrease and there will be fewer numbers of hickory shad. The American shad will start coming in thick once the river clears.
