Heavy rain, both local and in the watershed have already muddied up the river. By mid week the river will crest between 6 and 7 feet at Little Falls and will take several days to fall and clear. High water events like this are frustrating while they’re happening but help the duration of the run. High, muddy water helps keep water temperature down and send signals to fish downriver to come up and spawn. Last season we had high water in May and we were catching shad in the second week of June. Enjoy the few days of rest, bite will be back on next week.
